ABOUT US

Welcome to White Birch Cotons, a breeder in CT (Connecticut).  We are a small home-based kennel lovingly and ethically raising Coton de Tulear puppies,  If you are looking for a Coton de Tulear puppy in the Northeast, we are a short distance  to both Boston and New York (NY). Our Cotons are first and foremost our pets, but also chosen carefully for their pedigrees. Our dogs live with us and our puppies are raised inside our home, are crate and pee-pad trained, health cleared, and very well socialized. We offer a one-year guarantee, and are always available to answer questions for the life of your dog!

Both my husband and I have backgrounds in human and animal health.  He has is PhD in Animal Science and I hold degrees in Allied Health (concentration in genetics) and a BSN and MSN.  I currently practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Our background in the sciences has helped shape our breeding philosophy to focus on prevention.  Our dogs are extensively health tested. Please visit our page on health testing to read more.

We utilize the Puppy Culture Method of Socialization.

Coton de Tulears are often referred to as the “anti-depressant” dog, are hypoallergenic and are frequently chosen as Therapy dogs because of their fun lovingpersonalities.  Because Coton de Tulears have hair instead of fur they shed minimally.

Are dogs are registered with the Malagasy Coton de Tulear Preservation Club (MCPC).  This is the only Club that requires Embark Genetic testing for both breed identification and genetic health testing.  I am proud to be the Health and Education Chair for the MCPC

Healthy and Well Socialized

We use the Puppy Culture Method of Socialization.  Early socialization is key to a puppy’s success.  There is a limited window of opportunity for a breeder to socialize a puppy and give his the best possible start in life.  By utilizing the puppy culture method we separate ourselves from other breeders that claim that their methods are “just as good”.

Your PC puppy will have been exposed to different sites, smells, sounds and situation to assist them in easily adapting to life with a new family.  Your PC pup will be introduced to a crate and we will have initiated potty training.  Our children assist in the care of the puppies and we make sure the puppies are handled by people of all ages and stages.

We encourage our Puppy parents to continue with the Puppy Culture method. You can learn more about PC here
